How long can an orgasm last?

Another day, another random question batted about the f-buddy office. Although this one is worth discussion as there was almost a fist fight between the girls and guys over the average time it takes a man to ejaculate vs. the amount of time it takes a woman to orgasm.

A dozen smaller questions erupted as a result.

Is ejaculation an orgasm?
Do women lie about the amount of time it takes them to come?
Why do some women need to finger themselves and some don’t?
Do men lie about the amount of time it takes them to come?
Is there really a base standard?

Phew! I got worn out trying to keep up with all of this. Nevertheless it did make me ponder and as I pondered I got to doing a little bit of research.

Male Orgasm and Ejaculation
There is no set limit from what we can tell. Whilst studies indicate that the majority of men can’t hold back ejaculating any longer then 5 minutes of active thrusting, we know that sex isn’t just about thrusting in and out. Factors including stress, heightened sensitivity in certain positions and mood all come into play. Also there is a difference between a make orgasm and a male ejaculation. Male orgasm actually lasts beyond ejaculation so don’t stop doing whatever you’re doing as a woman if your man has already come. If you or whoever you’re sleeping with is concerned about irregular ejaculation cycles then try settling on some staple positions during sex that you know will increase the length of the session. Also if you have had sex with a partner more then once, orgasms and the length of time it takes to achieve orgasm increases.

Female Orgasm and Ejaculation
It takes 17 muscles for us to smile but a whopping 116 muscles to orgasm effectively. When you think about this it becomes hardly surprising that the average length of time it takes a woman to climax during sex is between 10-20 minutes whereas for a man it can be as little as 1 minute up to 1 hour. Another interesting statistic (though hardly surprising) is that a woman can achieve orgasm within 4 minutes by masturbating herself. Some women find they can’t come at all during vaginal sex, and some women can’t orgasm for hours during sex. Again, whilst there are average lengths of time for orgasm its worth paying attention to the kind of noises and indications a women is making during sex to gain some insight.

So there you have it. Another sexual myth dispelled. Another dozen more questions thrown up.

Happy fucking!
