Casual Sex for the Introvert

When I was younger I was very shy. I rarely spoke unless spoken to. I only had a handful of friends and we very much kept ourselves to ourselves. When we started to notice girls and become aware of our sexuality, we were just as horny as every loud mouthed jock on the playground. We just weren’t able to go about addressing it in the same way. We were introverts. Sex was something that seemed like something other more confident and loud people got up to. It wasn’t something we realistically thought we would be able to experience until we were at college or working. How wrong we were. Below is a quick brief on how you can enjoy casual sex as an introvert.

Am I an introvert?
People often confuse introverts with being shy. They are two very different things. Shyness is the fear of disapproval or humiliation. Introversion is when you find it exhausting to be around people all the time – even if they are people you like and get on with. An introvert often prefers time alone with close friends and family or doing something by themselves. This does not make them anti-social, just different. When it comes to casual sex, introversion is often seen as a barrier. The opposite is often true.

How to have casual sex as an introvert
1. Do Something
Your natural reaction is to be alone and let people come to you. If you want to have casual sex though, you need to be a bit more proactive. Don’t worry, simply signing up to a dating site is a start. Try messaging a few people and see what happens.

2. You can actually play it cool
A lot of women (and men) enjoy the thrill of the chase. As an introvert you can play it cool naturally. Be proactive, but as you won’t worry as much about someone messaging you back you’ll soon find that more people will.

3. If in doubt, kiss the girl/boy
If you’re in a close situation and you feel like you want to kiss the object of your affection, just do it. Don’t think. Just do it. If it doesn’t work never mind, but if it does work…

4. Get to know your partner a bit
As an introvert it is often easier to have sex with someone you have taken the time to get to know. This is often true with casual sex as well. Instead of hopping into bed on the first date, you can always meet your partner at a neutral location first and see how things go. Even in casual sex it isn’t always about the sex. Just be warned that your interest in them could backfire in them being interested in more than just casual sex.
