Busiest Time For Online Dating

As the first full week of the New Year draws to a close, so too does the 94% upsurge in people signing up to online dating sites including this one. Christmas is a time to party naked and do some of the dumbest things you’re likely to do in a long while, but New Year is the time that everyone sobers up and starts making huge lists of what they want to do and find in the New Year. Unsurprisingly one of those things is to find love and in many cases more sex.

So what to do?
Most people make a list of resolutions for the New Year most of which would be impossible for Superman or Wonder Woman to achieve, let alone an average human being still suffering from New Year’s blues. So we’ve compiled a small list of things to help you get your casual dating and general online dating back on track.

1. Be realistic
The first mistake people make on their dating resolution is that they don’t take the time to sit down and think about it properly. It’s no use just saying that you want to ‘date more’. You need to seriously think about what it is exactly you want from your dating in 2014. Do you want to continue sleeping around casually or do you want a more permanent commitment? We’re not naïve and realise that the casual option is mainly temporary. So if you are thinking of trying for something more permanent, be honest with yourself and with your fuck buddy or fuck buddies. Make a detailed list of what it is you want specifically from online dating in 2014 and go from there.

2. Update your profile
If you haven’t said anything new about yourself on your profile for over six months, then now’s the time to scribble out the new you for the new year. Having renewed objectives will help you redraft your profile into something that is leaner and meaner then before. Just remember to be honest with yourself and other people.

3. Don’t obsess over your profile
Now that you’ve rewritten your profile, stop over thinking it. Trust that your personality comes through. And for God’s sake try to write something more then ‘looking for naughty nsa fun’. It is to the point, but how many other people have written that? Answer: Millions. Try and entice a potential new fuck buddy by being a bit more creative with your words.

4. Make Time
You can’t just sit back and expect the fuck buddy to come to you. You have to put in some effort to get any kind of decent result. Put aside half an hour every day or every other day looking at people you would genuinely like to meet up with.

5. Don’t Spam Message
There is nothing worse then sending the same message out to dozens of different profiles. It denotes laziness and a lack of effort on your part. If you want the right kind of casual hook up then take the time to read the profiles you’re sending the message to and write something personal. You’re far more likely to get a response.

6. Set Goals
For any kind of dating to be successful and effective, you need to set goals. This goes right back to figuring out what it is that you want when writing or rewriting your profile. By setting yourself something as simple as ‘I will message 2 people I like the sound of every day’ you are setting yourself a realistic and achievable target. Goals like this are more likely to yield positive results.

Now what are you waiting for? Get going and get fucking!
